Reception Volunteer

Location: Howwood

We are currently looking for friendly and organised people to help welcome visitors to the hospice and provide admin support to our staff teams.

This role is an important first point of contact that many members of the public have with the hospice and is an ongoing point of contact for them for information.

Duties include:

  • Administration tasks to support our staff teams.
  • Greeting patients and visitors to the hospice and guiding them through our sign in process.
  • Answering calls from families and friends to arrange visiting times, transferring calls to the clinical teams and taking messages where required.
  • Printing out and distributing patient and visitor information leaflets.
  • Sign-posting visitors to tea and coffee facilities, rest rooms etc
  • Sign-posting visitors and callers to various hospice services including information about referrals.
  • Providing information to families and friends of patients who want to contact someone to make an in-memory donation to the hospice

Skills required:

  • Pleasant and welcoming manner.
  • Reliability and good timekeeping.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel and email interfaces.
  • Willingness to adopt infection control procedures (self) and encourage others to comply with the same.

Time Commitment:

1 shift per week or fortnight to be chosen from:

  • Monday to Sunday 9am–7pm
