Leave a gift in your Will

Will You?

So much of our wonderful work today is made possible because of the kindness and foresight of friends, families and supporters like you who included a gift to St. Vincent’s Hospice in their Will.

“I know so many people – friends and neighbours – who received wonderful care here. I wanted to include a little something in my Will for the Hospice, so that my gift stays in my own community, helping families for years to come.”

A gift in your will would become your lasting gift of care. After providing for your family and friends, by leaving even a small gift would make a great difference for future generations in your local community.

Quite simply, we couldn’t do what we do without these gifts.

Why it’s important to leave a Will

Without a Will, you will have no say in who inherits your money or how much they will inherit. With a Will in place what you wish to happen, will happen, and it will give you peace of mind knowing your loved ones are provided for.

Your Will also gives you the opportunity to support causes which are close to your heart and ensure they are there to help future generations.

If you die intestate (without a Will), your estate will be divided up according to certain rules, established by the government. Dying intestate means your estate may not necessarily go to the people you would like to. If you do not have a family, the government will inherit your money and possessions.

By leaving a Will, you will reduce the emotional and financial stress on your family should anything happen to you, at a time when they will be grieving for you. You can also appoint someone you trust to carry out the wishes you have stated in your Will

How do I write my Will and leave a gift to the hospice?

You can write or update you Will in different ways, but it is generally advisable to use a solicitor or have a solicitor check your Will to make sure it is as you would like.

A detailed guide to writing a Will can be found here.

If you choose to leave a gift to St Vincent’s Hospice in your Will, your solicitor will need to know these details:

Name: St Vincent’s Hospice

Address: Midton Road, Howwood, PA9 1AF

Registered charity number: SC006888
