Trusts and Foundations

The little hospice with the big heart

Trusts and Foundations play a vital part

At St Vincent’s Hospice, we are incredibly grateful for the generous support we receive from charitable trusts and foundations.

Grant funding plays a vital role in sustaining our services, enabling us to continue delivering the highest quality of care to patients and their families across Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire.

We deeply appreciate every donation from trusts and foundations. This support has a profound impact, helping us provide compassionate, specialist care free of charge to those who need us most, at some of the most challenging times in their lives.

As one family member shared:
“Since our dad was admitted, I have been more at ease and know that his needs are being met and he is receiving the care he needs. The whole team are amazing. Thank you.”

If you are looking for inspiration to support St Vincent’s Hospice, here are just a few of the incredible achievements made possible by our generous trust and foundation supporters:

  • Essential funding for Inpatient Care – Enabling our doctors and nurses to provide the very highest standard of compassionate care, free of charge, to patients in their final days.
  • Funding for vital Community Nurse Specialist hours – Supporting individuals who wish to spend their final moments in the comfort and dignity of their own homes.
  • Redevelopment of our Community Hub – Transforming it into a dedicated home for our Day Hospice service, creating a welcoming space for patients and families.
  • Visits from Music in Hospitals & Care musicians – Bringing live music to our Day Services and Inpatient Unit, uplifting patients and staff alike.
  • Upgrade to our In-Patient Unit – Ensuring a calm, therapeutic setting where patients benefit from round-the-clock expert care.
  • Upgraded Sluice facility – Enhancing infection control, staff efficiency, and overall safety within the hospice.

Every grant we receive makes a tangible difference, helping us continue to provide essential care and support when it matters most.

How Trusts and Foundations Make a Tangible Impact

Your support helps us provide compassionate, specialist care to patients and families across our community – in the hospice and at home.

  • £250 – Could fund a week of Hub activities for patients and families, helping them try new hobbies, socialise and find moments of joy – from Tai Chi to music and art
  • £500 – Could fund a day of meals, refreshments and essential comfort items for patients and their families.
  • £1,000 – Could fund 16 bereavement counselling sessions for children and families coping with loss — because grief doesn’t end at death, and neither does our care.
  • £1,500 – Could support several days of care from a specialist community palliative care nurse, enabling patients to remain in their chosen place of care.
  • £5,000 – Could fund garden furniture and outdoor resources, supporting our “hospice without walls” ethos — promoting normality, freedom, and wellbeing.
  • £8,500 – Could cover the hospice’s running costs for one day.
  • £15,000 – Could help bring our “hospice without walls” vision to life by opening our Day Hospice to the outdoors.
  • £24,000 – Could fund the urgent upgrade of our ambulance ramp, ensuring a safer and more dignified entrance

The impact of this support is felt deeply by those who use our services. One hub attendee shared:

“When St Vincent’s came into my life, they really listened to me, which has made such a big difference. Attending day services makes me feel that I am part of something.”

And from two young people supported through bereavement services:

“I loved making a memory jar for my daddy and I made one for my friend whose daddy is in heaven too.”

“I don’t talk about Mum to anyone. I can’t believe I just told you all the things that were upsetting me. I feel better now”

Case Study

Thanks to the generous support of The National Lottery Community Fund, our Community Nursing service continues to grow and reach more local people. In the past year alone, referrals to our Community Nurse Specialist team have increased by over 40%, highlighting the rising demand for expert, compassionate care in patients’ own homes.

This vital funding directly enables our nurses to provide timely, personalised support, helping individuals remain comfortable and cared for in the place they most want to be.

The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland Chair, Kate Still said:

“Every day National Lottery funding is changing the lives of thousands of people in communities across Scotland. This project, delivered by St Vincent’s Hospice is a great example of community activity in action, showing just what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause or to help others.”

We are deeply grateful for every gift, large or small, that enables St Vincent’s Hospice to provide compassionate care to local people – whether through our Day Services, inpatient care, or support at home.
