About us

St Vincent’s Hospice (the little hospice with the big heart!) is a Scottish Charity (SC006888) and a company limited by guarantee (SC150148). We also have a trading company (SC150149).

The hospice exists to provide care for people who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness including in the last days of their lives. We also help the loved ones of our patients through the entirety of their journey, and afterwards through bereavement support.

Services at St Vincent’s are regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) who have rated us “Good” across all aspects of our operations. Our latest inspection report can be found here St. Vincent’s Hospice, Howwood – service overview and inspection reports (healthcareimprovementscotland.org). St Vincent’s Hospice is governed by an experienced Board of Trustees who serve on our Board for up to 8 years. Day-to-day management is delegated to our Chief Executive (Gillian Green) and other members of our Senior Leadership Team, including our Director of Care and Quality (Susan McCallum). Our highly qualified and experienced medical team is led by a Consultant in Palliative Medicine (Mairi-Clare McGowan).

In addition to any public funding that the hospice receives, every year we have to raise over £1.5M to keep the doors of the hospice open and ensure that our services are available when people in Renfrewshire and adjacent areas of North Ayrshire need us most. You can see the hospice accounts here. If you would like to help the hospice to raise funds, please click here.
