Our specialist nurses support patients with life limiting conditions, and their families in their own homes, or in the supportive care clinic here in St Vincent’s Hospice.
They will carry out a full person-centred assessment, taking time to listen and get to know you and your family and what is important to you.
They will help you to manage physical and emotional symptoms and signpost to our other supportive services to help you to live well with your condition.
Our nursing and medical teams collaborate with specialist teams in the hospitals e.g. Oncology, Respiratory, Cardiology, MS, Parkinson’s and motor neurone disease nurses and doctors.
They provide expert advice to other health professionals in the community e.g. Renfrewshire Enablement Service (RES) and work closely with GPs and District nurses across Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire.
The specialist nurses may arrange admission to the hospice if required for symptom control, respite stay or end of life care if this is required. The patient and family preferences for care are always prioritised.
