Pre-Loved Shop Retail Volunteer

Location: Renfrewshire various locations (Bridge of Weir, Johnstone and Paisley)

Are you looking for experience in retail or would just like to give something back? Our shops raise vital funds for the Hospice from selling donated clothes, books, toys and small electrical items.

We are currently looking for friendly and organised people to help in our pre-loved shops:

  • Livery Walk, Bridge of Weir
  • Moss Street, Paisley 
  • Neilston Road, Paisley
  • High Street, Johnstone

 

Duties include:

  • Sorting through donation bags and selecting items suitable for sale (some lifting is required).
  • Hanging and steaming selected items.
  • Researching item values on the internet when necessary.
  • Pricing goods according to St Vincent’s Hospice pricing guide.
  • Recycling unsellable items.
  • Offering excellent customer service
  • Taking payments from customers at the till
  • Promoting St Vincent’s Hospice fundraising events.

Skills required:

  • Friendly personality.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Time commitment:

We are looking for volunteers who can commit a few hours, one day per week or fortnight. We can be flexible in terms of which day(s)

Our shop opening times are:

Monday to Saturday 10am – 4.30pm

Training, support and benefits:

  • A full induction and further skills training to enable you to fulfil your role as required.
  • A staff member will support you throughout your time as a volunteer.
  • 20% discount in our community charity shops.

    Please give details of 2 persons we can contact to give you a character reference e.g. long standing friend or neighbour. These should not be relatives and at least one should have no existing connection with St Vincent’s Hospice.
