Family Support and Bereavement care

Our team have skills and experience in health, social work, counselling and chaplaincy, offering a wide range of services. These include:

  • Practical support around benefits, finance, etc.
  • Assisting, if necessary, in arranging care services and support when patients go home from the Hospice.
  • Offering social, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their relatives.

Our dedicated team will also provide more general advice and assistance, including:

  • Making the time and space for you to talk with someone in private who will listen to your concerns.
  • Give you the opportunity to express your thoughts and feelings without judgement.
  • Help you to make sense of the things that are worrying you.
  • Offer practical suggestions that could help you to make decisions.
  • Assist you to make plans about things that are important to you.
  • Work with you while you adjust to changes happening in your life.

Children and Young People’s Service

St. Vincent’s Hospice is one of the few places to offer a dedicated bereavement support service specifically tailored towards helping children and young people (aged 2-18) cope with the loss of a loved one.
